Pre-Production Session with The Suspicious Pigeons

On Tuesday 10th March, myself and Max held a session with the band, where we met with them to discuss their sound and walk them through the studio recording process. We were also able to record a few demo takes of their original songs to get a feel for their style. After meeting with our tutor, Lee, it was determined that this was best used as a pre-production session before conducting our research to be able to properly record them the following week. As a result of this we have also added an extra studio session for Wednesday 25th March. We were then able to discuss with them afterwards how they would like to sound, and what they were expecting from the E.P. One of the things that kept coming up was that they quite liked their ‘raw’ sound, and preferably wanted to be recorded all together, and then track vocals and extra parts over the top. After recording the demos we came to the same conclusion. They played very tight and obviously fed off the energy of all being in the studio at the same time, and we want to try and attempt to capture this energy in the E.P.

In our next studio session on the 17th March we shall start recording for the E.P. taking full advantage of our research into recording.
